Hey everybody, so tomorrow I'm going to be heading to the ExCel Exhibiton Centre in Central London for the Gadget Show Live Christmas.
I was notified that I was going on Tuesday this past week, and received the ticket on Thursday. I won it through a company who will remain unnamed until the video goes up on Monday.
There will be tons of tech, gaming and gadget companies there, some of which sell products which you've seen on GeekSlam, and I'm going to be talking to the people behind these products, getting some demos and samples of products on video, maybe an interview or two.
Unfortunately the ticket doesn't cover the live show, but the exhibition where the companies and products have stands is the main part of the GSL Xmas. And I'm very grateful to the company that provided the ticket, especially since I wasn't expecting to go to a Gadget Show Live Event until the Birmingham one in April, which hopefully I'll be able to go to.
Hopefully you'll all be enjoying the content over the week, if all goes to plan then I'll have a video and article up every day, from Monday to Friday, if there's extra content to publish afterwards then it will be released the week after.

BT Infinity 2, is it worth it?
In today's world, we always want more and more from our internet. BT has been offering BT Infinity 2 for the last 3 months. I have decided to jump onto it and to see if it was worth it.
Before, we were on an ancient AOL line. Getting speeds about 0.4 up and about 1 down. This was pretty terrible, so we switched to BT Infinity 2. Is it worth it?
Yes.
I have noticed a HUGE speed difference, and a simple Speedtest.net test tells you this. I absolutely love it.
My speed test gave me, during off-peak times (I did the test at 9:00PM 29/11/12) 72.00 Down and 19 up! Insane speeds, BT have done an excellent job. During peak-times (I did 4:00pm 29/11/12) I got 49 down and 11 up. Still very impressive.

I also use BT Infinity, in London along with thousands of other people. It's crazy fast, and with unlimited downloads and uploads, the only disadvantage is that Virgin is rolling out 100 down, but with more expensive deals.

Unboxing - Nokia Lumia 610
Hmm.. There's a sense of déjà vu in this post... It can only be because our editor Gabe has done another great smartphone unboxing. This time - the Nokia Lumia 610.
Now, while the phone isn't brand spanking new, or running Windows 8, it still runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, and has been named as the best value smartphone.
It's got some great specs, and isn't a complete bank breaker. The 8GB model is available for around £130, which is equivalent to about $210 USD, and about $200 Australian dollars. (Gabe is Australian and he probably would've wanted me to put this in).
You can watch the unboxing here, it's just as good as his last one (of the Samsung Galaxy Ace), if not better.

Speedlink Spes - First Impressions
Hey everyone, so today I received my new Lapel Microphone in the mail. I know I've not been posting a lot on the blog this past few weeks, mainly because the YouTube Channel just got full partnership, and I've been busy sorting out the financials, a banner through a great designer, and just working on making better videos.
In a week or 2 when I've finished doing all that, I'll have some more posts going up on here. And yes, this one is yet another product unboxing, but once I've finished unboxing and reviewing everything that's been bought recently I'll get back to the usual stuff.
Anyway, the whole point of this post is that I've received my new lapel mic, unboxed it as well, and I'd like to share my first impressions of it with you.
As with most lapel mics you'll find online, they usually cost £3 or £4 on Amazon or eBay, and the price is usually a representation of how long the cable is. I decided to opt for one that was more expensive and sold by a well known company (Speedlink) so that I could rely on the product and not worry about anything.
This one has metal casing on the microphone capsules part itself, a metal clip which the microphone detaches from, and a 2.5 meter cable. So far, I think that the build quality of this mic is great for a lapel mic and the sound quality is even better than I'd expected too.

Microsoft HD-3000 - Initial Impressions
This article might seem oddly familiar to some of you, and that's because a couple of days ago I published an article with my initial impressions of the Microsoft LX-3000 Headset I bought.
Well today, I was in PC World and decided to spend £20 on this, the Microsoft HD-3000 webcam. It's been on my amazon wishlist for a while actually, I originally wanted it so I could record videos from my computer, do some livestreams, and have a good webcam for Skype.
This webcam is ideal for all of those and more.
The hardware: It has a bending base with a rubber coating, so you can place it on the top of a laptop, computer monitor, or even a desk and not worry about it moving around or falling over. The bending base is useful because it allows you to position it up and down on a monitor, it doesn't move around, and also the head of the webcam which holds the LED Indicator and camera module, turns left and right on the base.
The webcam is mostly built with plastic, but it still feels durable and very well built.
The picture quality - The picture quality is excellent. There's no lag when you move around in front of the camera, it picks up a lot of detail and also the webcam is a 720P HD Webcam so it's higher quality than most webcams, but is just underneath higher end webcams such as the Microsoft Cinema of Studio webcams, or Logitech C910 or C920.

Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 - Initial Impressions.
Earlier today, I opened the door to a very bored looking Royal Mail employee. In his hands, was a package for me. That package was my brand new headset.
I ordered it on Saturday night, the 27th of October, (Amazon.co.uk) so delivery didn't take very long, considering the fact that I opted for 3-5 Business Days Delivery. I wasn't even expecting it to arrive until sometime between today and Monday, so big props go to the seller for getting it sent to me so quickly.
If I'm honest, I would've preferred to spent an extra £10 or so for a Turtle Beach X12 headset, but since my computer only has a single audio jack which is always taken up by my speakers, I decided that this headset with PC specific controls and a single USB jack would be fine, also, I'm not a hardcore gamer.

So far, I'm quite impressed with the headset. The build quality is a lot better than I had expected, it's been comfortable for the past 2 hours or so, and the audio quality is absolutely brilliant.
The microphone. The boom mic built into this headset is a lot better than I'd expected. It doesn't pick up very much background noise at all due to it being a noise cancelling mic, its also fairly flexible and doesn't move around much unless you move it. Also the quality of the microphone is very good.
Hopefully this article was informative enough for everyone's liking. This isn't a full review, that will come sometime in the near future.

iPad mini vs iPod Touch 5th Gen
Many people have been asking us, other tech journalists and themselves the same question:
"What would be a better buy? The iPad Mini or the 5th Gen iPod Touch?"
Like I said, I will be comparing the two devices in different categories and saying which one is better in each category.
Well, it really depends on what you want a device for.
Portability: both products are portable, but you can't exactly put an iPad Mini in your pocket.
Apps, Gaming, Power: The iPad Mini and iPod Touch are similar with power, the iPod Touch is slightly faster and more powerful however. The AppStore has almost twice as many iPod and iPhone apps when compared to iPad apps, but most apps aren't updated for the iPod's 4" screen. The iPad Mini runs every iPad App natively, and gameplay would be much easier on the iPad Mini, less cramped too.
So if you want better apps and better choice, the iPad Mini would be the way to go, but for a crap-ton of games and apps, go for the iPod Touch.
Music:
The iPod Touch. Designed for music, much easier to use in terms of playback, and it fits in your pocket too.
Video:
When it comes to watching video, the more screen real estate and PPI (pixels per inch) you have, the better. The iPad Mini wins this one with screen real estate and PPI. but the iPod Touch plays back in native 16:9, and would be easier to watch videos on if you're on the go or in public.
Internet browsing:
This one isn't as easy as the others, but we think that the iPad comes out top here as you can get 3G on it a well as faster 4G in some areas. The screen is bigger and Apple takes pride in the web browsing experience on the iPad, and also you can read more on the screen.
This is our comparison between the iPad Mini and iPod Touch 5th gen. Take what you want to from it.
So, if you want something portable and powerful, either is good for you. If you need something to fit in a bag: iPad Mini. But if you need something for your pocket: iPod Touch.
