Yes! It's here! And it was accurately leaked 2 months ago!
It's the iPad Mini!
Last night at Apple's October Event, we saw a refresh of almost every major product they sell, apart from the Mac Pro and the iPod Classic. 2 products that average consumers don't know of.
The iPad Mini is exactly what you'd expect it to be, a mini iPad. Although, it's a mini version of the iPad 2.
You may be wondering, how so?
Well, it's got the same specs almost exactly, apart from the body, cameras, wireless and some others.
Specs:
7.9 Inch Screen
Available in WiFi only or Cellular (4G LTE) versions
16GB, 32GB and 64GB Storage Capacities
Available in Black & Slate and White & Silver colours
7.2mm thick
HD FaceTime Front Facing Camera 1.2MP pictures, 720p HD Video
5MP iSight Camera, 5MP pictures, autofocus, 5 element lens, 1080p video recording
Lightning Charge and Sync Port
What's In the Box?
iPad Mini
Lightning to USB Cable
USB Power Adapter
(Apple didn't mention a quick start guide or fingertips)
THE SCREEN
For me, the screen is really interesting, because it has the exact same amount of pixels as the iPad 2. This means that even though it's not Retina, it will still run the iPad version of iOS, and every iPad and iPhone app available natively.
I think this idea is brilliant, we've seen the fragmentation issues with the iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th gen, and Apple's trying to cut down on the fragmentation.
The only issue is, what will they call the next generation, and what will Apple announce in January?
