the new iBooks, what is "new" about it

During the Apple October Special Event on Tuesday, Apple announced version 3.0 of their iBooks software. In this article I will round up all of the new different features that Apple has added:

Themes:
Apple has added a new theme that is for night reading. To simply explain it: black background, white text. Similar to "Invert Colours" in the accessibility settings.

Sharing:
You can now share quotes, lines and even paragraphs through the iOS sharing menu. This means Facebook, Twitter, Email, iMessage, Copy text ETC.

Continous scrolling:
You can now scroll through books vertically, instead of flicking through pages. Yoni says that the page flick animation is too cool to give up.

40 new languages:
Apple's added 40 new languages to iBooks. Tim Cook mentioned Korean and Japanese during the keynote, and how crisp and high quality the individual characters are.

Also, the Mac app used for creating and publishing books to the store (iBooks Author) got an update too. Authors can now use the new languages, but can also use custom fonts and create multitouch widgets.

And yes, Apple finally implemented widgets into something.

So thats the entire 3.0 update to iBooks and the small update to iBooks Author.
