Felix Baumgartner - Thank You

Earlier today, daredevil and adrenaline junkie Felix Baumgartner jumped from the edge of space down to earth, and broke some records too.

That's a really simplified version of it.

Through months of training and preparing, Felix got to do the jump today.

The jump was sponsored and run by Red Bull, and was named "Red Bull Stratos, mission to the edge of space".

The aim? To break 2 records. To break the speed of sound from a free fall jump and to break the record for the longest free fall jump.

Felix broke the main objective, to go faster than the speed of sound, but not the other objective which was the longest free fall jump, which was last set in the 60's.

Although, he did set the record for the highest manned balloon flight. His little pod cabin was carried up to the edge of space. It took about 2 hours and 35 minutes, to reach the height of 128,000 feet.

Felix landed on both feet after deploying his parachute and was then greeted by a rescue helicopter.

Today, Felix made history and broke records that most people wouldn't imagine breaking.

It's been a great day for science, and of course technology. A man went to the edge of space and jumped off, and all of this was streamed through multiple cameras to YouTube, where nearly 8 million people watched.

In 10, 50 and even 100 years we will look back at this day and remember how basic technology was, but how spectacular it was to see a man jump to earth at 800mph.

Don't forget to check out the video about it
